The Magic Effect:

This magic trick with cards is set up as follows. 12 cards are placed face up on the table ( using any red and black cards from the deck ) in the same pattern you see in the diagram below here. You, the magician, tell someone to secretly pick any BLACK card. After telling them to make several secret random moves, you are able to tell them which card they have moved to.

The Magic Secret:

Tell your audience member to pick any black card. Tell them to next move UP or DOWN to the nearest RED card. Next, tell them to move LEFT or RIGHT to the nearest BLACK card. Next, tell them to move DIAGONALLY To the Nearest RED card. Finally, tell them to move UP or DOWN to the nearest BLACK card. If you follow these directions carefully, your audience member will always end up on the MIDDLE CARD ON THE BOTTOM ROW.

Matching Sisters Card Trick

Effect: The two black queens find the two red queens by being put into the deck where the spectator freely wants to place them.

The Trick: Start by putting one red queen on top of the face down deck and the other red queen at the bottom both face down.

Next, give the two black queens to a spectator. Start dealing cards off the top of the deck, laying them in a face down pile on the table, until the spectator tells you to stop.

Have the spectator put the first black queen, face up, onto the pile on the table (these are the cards you have just counted face down) Then drop the remainder of the deck in your hand face down onto the black queen (so the only card facing up is the black queen)

Next, repeat the process above, having the spectator put in the other black queen, face up, and drop the remainder of the deck on top of the other black queen, again face down. Have the spectator cut the deck, and complete the cut.

Now announce that without any help from you the spectator was able to find the black queens sisters. Simply go to the face up black queens, take them out, and the cards immediately above each will of course be the red queens.

NOTES: You can very easily put the two red queens in place while you find the black ones right under their noses. As long as you don't make a big deal out of it no one will suspect a thing.

Easy Coin Moves - Pull A Coin From Thin Air

Effect: Amazing audience reaction because even though it's clear your hand is empty, you appear to grab coin after coin from behind their ears, under tables, even from thin air!

You Will Need:1 coin
1 thin strip of scotch tape.
How To Do The Trick :
Photo shows coin attached to hand with a length of clear adhesive tape. The tape is very difficult for the audience to see, especially since your hand will be moving. TRICKS MAGIC.

1. Stick the coin to the back of your hand with a small piece of clear adhesive tape. This will let you palm the coin behind your hand very easily while the front of your hand faces the audience.

2. Begin with the coin hanging behind your hand. Hold your hand naturally so that no one will think that something is in it.

3. Find a place where you can reach out with your hand, putting it temporarily out of sight of the audience. For example, under a table, or behind their ear. Reach your hand out and when the hand is at an angle that is out of view of the audience, flip the coin up so you can grab it with your thumb, then bring your hand back into view. It will look like the coin came from nowhere!

4. Do this a few more times.

5. To create a good finish, reach out into the air and flip the coin up into your fingers. Don't do it too fast-- or the coin will come off the tape. This will look like you grabbed the coin out of thin air!

In this clever trick, the magician appears to be able to tell the colour of every card with a magic diviner.

Effect: A pack of cards is thoroughly shuffled. The pack can even be given to the spectator to shuffle, if they desire. Once the pack has been thoroughly shuffled, the cards are then spread face down on the table. The magician is then able to point to any card and tell which colour of suit it belongs to i.e red or black.
Magic Card Diviner

In this clever trick, the magician appears to be able to tell the colour of every card with a magic diviner.

Effect: A pack of cards is thoroughly shuffled. The pack can even be given to the spectator to shuffle, if they desire. Once the pack has been thoroughly shuffled, the cards are then spread face down on the table. The magician is then able to point to any card and tell which colour of suit it belongs to i.e red or black.

Method: Before beginning this trick, you first separate all the red suited cards from the black suited ones. Put the red and black suited cards into two separate blocks.
Take the red suited block of cards and while holding the pack, face up, bend the cards up so that they form a slight arch. Then put them down and pick up the black suited pack.

Holding the black suited pack face down, bend the cards up towards you forming a slight arch. The two separate blocks of cards can then be put back together. The pack is now ready to be shuffled. After shuffling, spread the pack face down on the table and you can secretly tell the red and black cards apart as they have slight bends in them. i.e the red cards curl down slightly and the black cards curl up slightly. This will not usually be noticed by your audience. You can then proceed to identify the colour of each face down card.

Performance: Although this is a simple trick, it can be very entertaining and impressive with a little bit of patter and imagination from the magician. You can pretend to have a " magic divining rod " for instance and even continue to blah!, blah!, blah!, e.t.c. about the origin of the magic divining rod / card.

All you then need to do is hold a wand or even another playing card over the face down pack and make it vibrate slightly as it passes over your desired card.
And there you have it, with a little bit of patter, you have transformed an otherwise run of the mill card trick into an entertaining feat of magic. See the magic tips and hints page for other performance tips.

LEARNING MAGIC ,YOUR THE MAGICIAN

Effect: The magician asks the spectator whether he knows any card tricks. Whatever the spectator answers, the magician says "Well, heres a great trick, only YOU'RE going to perform it."

The spectator is handed a deck of cards and asked to hold them with the cards facing the magician, the backs towards himself. The magician picks a card, which the spectator removes and places on the table, never looking at it.

Performance: This trick is actually not too difficult, but the effect is astonishing because the magician never actually handles the deck. The only real skills necessary are good verbal communications and misdirection.

After the spectator shuffles the deck, have him fan them in front of his face with the backs of the cards towards himself. Tell him to start fanning at the top of the deck and continue to the bottom. Meanwhile, you watch for the card that has the same value as the top card and the same suit as the card second from top

Note: If these two cards have the same value or the same suit, the trick won't work. In this case, ask the spectator whether he cut the cards. When he says no, tell him to cut the deck and start over again.

When you find that particular card, touch it and have him pull it out and place it on the table face down. Then tell him to think of a number and to count that many of into a neat pile on the table. (This puts the two pointer cards on the bottom of the pile.)

Have him discard the rest of the cards in his hands, pick up the pile on the table, and deal the cards alternately into two piles. (The two pointer cards are now on top of each of the new piles.) Remember that the last card he deals will show the value (ace, 2, 3, etc) of the selected card while the next-to-last card (the top one on the other pile) will show the suit.

Explain to the spectator that if he has been concentrating on the card on the table, he will have subconsciously picked two cards that will respectively reveal the value and suit of the card that you the magician have randomly selected. Flip the three cards to reveal that this is so.

money earning trick

OK, I was kinda sick for the last 2-3 days, and that's why I haven't posted any new tricks (and why my previous trick wasn't so good). I will try to find you the newest and coolest tricks around, and not only the card ones. That's why with this trick, you will not only do magic, but can also earn you some money (depending on your victim's sense of humor and intelligence). All you need is some money, a friend with more money and a container/box (an empty box of matches will do just fine). Put 20$ (or any other amount, but don't push it) in a box, then ask your friend to give you the same amount of money which you will put in the box too. Now start telling him how there are $40 in the box and what can a man do with them...in other words: keep yapping . Now ask him if he would like to buy the box for a bargain of $30. If you played your part good, he won't suspect a thing and he will buy it. Now thank him, pack the money and get going...you just made $10. Just don't expect any favors from the guy in a while.

How To Do Coin Tricks

Effect of magic trick : A hat or bag containing ten pennies ( quarters will do, just as well ) is passed to the audience. They are asked to examine the coins to confirm that the coins have different dates. A member of the audience is asked to choose a coin at random and pass this around for the other members to see. The coin is then placed back in the hat with the other coins and the hat is then presented to the magician. Eyes closed and appearing to be concentrating deeply, the magician puts his hand in the hat and retrieves the chosen coin. This is an impressive mind reading style routine.

Items Needed: 10 pennies or quarters with different dates on each, a hat or paper bag.

Secret: There is no secret setup. There is no force of which coin to chose. The magic trick is fairly simple if you think about it. As the coin is passed through the people's hands, it becomes warmer than the rest. So, all you have to do when you stick your hand into the hat is find the coin that is the warm one. A paper bag will do just as good as a hat.

Bottoms Up Card Trick

Effect: A pack of cards is fanned out in front of a spectator. The magician runs his fingers around the card fan and the spectator is asked to tell him when to stop his fingers on a card. This card is shown to the audience, replaced in the pack and the pack handed back to the spectator to shuffle. The magician then reveals the card which was chosen.

Method: Ask a spectator to shuffle the cards. When he/she hands them back to you note the bottom card . That is going to be their card.

Start by fanning the cards out. Run your finger across them and ask the spectator when to stop. When he/she says to stop, put your thumb on that point of the deck.

While your thumb is on that point, use your other fingers to slowly work the bottom card under your thumb. As you pull the cards off the top of the deck with your thumb, slide the bottom card under the other cards and pull them off the deck and show the spectator his/ her card. This is where you take over. Since you already know the card you can have the spectator cut, shuffle, e.t.c.

Good routine to try out:

They'll be amazed.

Impromptu Card Trick

The pack is then handed back to the magician who quietly puts his thumb under the crimped card, appearing to be clumsy and allows the cards above his thumb to fall on the floor. The card under his thumb will be the spectators.

The magician can also allow the rest of the cards to fall leaving only the spectators card in his haEffect :

A Card is selected by a spectator and placed back on top of the pack.
The pack of cards is then cut several times and handed back to the magician.
A pile of cards suddenly fall off the pack leaving the magician holding the spectators card.

Method :

When the card is selected the card on the bottom of the pack is crimped by the magicians pinky.

The spectators card is then placed on the top of the pack and the pack is cut.

This now means that the spectators card is underneath the crimped card.

The pack of cards can be passed around the room to be cut several times and the spectators card will always be under the crimped card.

The pack is then handed back to the magician who quietly puts his thumb under the crimped card, appearing to be clumsy and allows the cards above his thumb to fall on the floor. The card under his thumb will be the spectators.

The magician can also allow the rest of the cards to fall leaving only the spectators card in his hand.

This card trick looks amazing because the audience has seen that the magician has not had a lot of contact with the pack and the whole routine has been totally impromptu.

Cool Coin Trick

Effect:
Your friend reaches into their pocket and grabs a handful of coins and sets them on the table. You turn your back and they pick one coin up, remembering what the date on the coin was.
Then they take the coin and mix it up with the rest of the change. You pick up each coin, and by looking at the date on the coin, are able to figure out which coin they selected.

Secret:
This one is a very cool coin trick. Want to learn how to do this coin trick? Great. The way it works is that when you are picking up the coins in order to "look at the date", what you are actually doing is feeling the heat of the coins. Because of what's called "specific heat" in physics - metals conduct heat better than wood and other materials. It's because of this fact that when someone holds onto a coin for even just 20 or 30 seconds, the heat from their fingers will be transferred to the coin.

So all you have to do is pick up the coins one at a time and pretend to look at the date. So imagine that you pick up a quarter, a nickel, a dime, and a couple pennies. But the coins could even be exotic foreign coins. When you get to the coin that is warm, say something like "This nickel was made in 1983. That's interesting, because in 1983 blah blah blah was going on and I just knew that you'd pick it!
Sometimes, people may pick up on the method, if you don't confuse them a bit by talking about the date. This is one of those tricks that if you play it up right, it can work wonders. If someone does guess that you're just feeling which one is the hottest coin, then sometimes you can get away with directly throwing them off by saying. "I wish it were that easy, but I'm not telling the secret!". That indirectly gets your friend to think that it must be something else, and that you still have a secret that you are keeping!
It's perfect for the dinner table when you go out to eat with a few of your friends, or when you don't have a deck of cards with you and someone asks for you to show them a magic trick! No trick coins required! You asked for a cool coin trick, and you got it!

Feel a Ghost!

Effect:
You are sitting in front of your friend, and no one else is near. You take your index fingers and place them on your friend's eyes as they close their eyes. Then, your friend feels something whisk past their head, then brush on their shoulder, then they feel a tap!

Secret:
This ghost magic trick is one of my all time favorites to teach to people who are just getting started in magic, or, after you do a few other tricks, this is one that you will be able to pass on to your audience members.

No sleight of hand required for this magic trick. Here's how it works.
Step 1) First, have your friend look around the room. Point out that it is only the two of you, but you've been seeing some ghosts lately and you want to do a seance to see if you can conjure up a ghost.
Step 2) Tell your friend you'd like them to close their eyes in a moment. Take both of your index fingers and gently place them on the closed eyelids of your friend. Make sure they see that your index fingers are coming closer to their eyes, and that they close their eyes just about an inch before you touch their eyes.
Step 3) Quick - here's the magic trick part of this -- instead of touching them with both the index fingers, right as they close their eyes, touch them with both the index finger and little "pinky" finger. (Or your thumb and little finger). They will think that both your index fingers are touching their eyes, but now you have one hand free! You can say you're doing this because you want to make sure that your ghost friend doesn't want to bee seen!
Step 4) Now that I've explained the secret, it's important not to go over the edge with this, if you really want it to freak your friends out. First, don't just tap them on the shoulder. Take your hand and just barely whisk it by their ear or gently touch their ear.
Step 5) After you do the slight touch or whisk, bring your hands back to in front of their face, point both index fingers at the eyes, and slowly bring your hands away from their face as you ask them to open their eyes. When they open their eyes, they will see exactly what they saw a moment ago before they closed their eyes. Isn't that what a ghost would do?
Step 6) They'll be pretty freaked out at this point, so they may want to do it again. If they agree, do the exact same thing above, but this time do something slightly different. They'll be waiting for you to tap them or touch their hair again, so do something slightly different, to surprise or catch them off guard. You could rub your fingers together next to their ear -- so they'll hear spooky things -- or you could pull on the shoulder of their shirt. The important thing to do here is not to go overboard, because you don't want to give away that it was your hand doing those things. Make them think that perhaps you could have done something else, maybe you blew on their hair, or maybe you somehow else did it. They'll never know that it wasn't really a ghost!
Here are some other tips to make this trick work. First of all, the secret is pretty simple, so as you read this, you might think that it's not worth trying. Wrong! Actually this is a really strong trick, it's fun because it doesn't use what people may think are trick cards, trick coins, or fancy sleight of hand. So it's a whole different area than many of the other magic tricks we describe on this web site. Also, the venue is important too. If you can wait until a spooky moment -- perhaps after a scary movie, or around Halloween, it will make a more lasting impression. Also, don't give away the secret right away, let it creep them out for a few days. If you do this properly, it'll send chills up their spine every time they think about the trick.
This is a great magic trick to teach kids, because it is fairly easy to do. Also, an alternative is to touch your fingers right above their eyes, or on their eyebrows, but I find the other nice thing about touching their eyes is that it guarantees that they won't try to open them.

Card in Pocket

Effect:
The magician puts the whole deck into his pocket and eventually pulls out the one "freely" chosen card by the volunteer. This is a card in pocket prediction card trick.

Secret:
This is a psychological card force. First, look at either the top or bottom card in the deck and remember it. Or, better yet: Put a face card on the top of the deck and a number card of a different color on the bottom of the deck. If you want to get really sneaky, put a different card in your other pocket, perhaps a higher number than the one in the pocket with the deck. Don't let anyone see you put that card in there. Now you have three possible cards that will all work for the finale. This is a trick that will just work on it's own, with your attention, of course... and you never quite know which card it will be in the end, however your audience will think that you knew exactly what was going to happen the whole time.
This uses a great principle in magic that people never think about. Since they haven't seen the trick before, they have no idea what the ending is supposed to be. You can do a card trick and there could be a jillion different endings, but as long as you can convince your audience that the exact ending is what you had "planned" at the start of the show, you'll be revered as a great magician!
You will force them to pick this card. Here's how it works.
Choose a color...red or black.
Let's assume the card is the seven of diamonds. If they say red say Great! and move on. If they say black, say "Great! that leaves...Red..right"
"Okay red it is"
Now let's decide if we want it high or low. "When I snap my fingers you say high 7,8,9,10, Jack, Queen, King or low Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6"

If they say low, say Great! Low is elimanted! If they say Red, say "Great! Red it is!"
Are you getting the hang of this?
Then just have them name a few different cards in the last step. Proceed as you did above. Narrow it down to the one card.
Remember, stay excited about their choices, don't ever hesitate. Although this trick has a simple secret, it is very difficult to do flawlessly and without pause or hesitation.
Since it will appear that you are doing the same thing each time, you'll have to slightly modify the trick as it goes along. Make it appear as if your technique has changed each time, which will allow you to do the flip. For instance, point to another person in the audience, and say something like, "Okay, NOW, I need you to do something very similar... you get to pick red or black?". See how that sets it up that if you change what you are doing a bit, you don't have to explain yourself that you went back and forth on either including or eliminitating cards in the trick.
In the end, pull the one card out of your pocket as you pretend to feel around the shuffled deck for it.
Voila! The seven of diamonds!

Cards from Mouth

Effect:
After producing cards from the air one by one, you need a good finish. This is one great finish to backpalming cards and producing them from thin air.
You point to your empty mouth and reach inside. Instantly a mouthful of cards pour out.
This is also a good finish to springing the cards from hand to hand. Bonus, near the end of this simple trick is a magic principle about creating strong, lasting magic memories, so be sure to check it out as well, even if you're not interested in this trick, you can learn from it!

Secret:
This is another great fun trick that keeps the audience in a good mood.
The mechanics of this trick are fairly simple, although the timing and misdirection are what is going to be the part you will need to focus on when you practice this.
Palm about 20-30 cards in your right hand. Leave this hand at your side. Do this when the attention is on something else, at the end of a previous trick, or after you have produced cards from thin air.
Point to your mouth with your left hand and open your eyes really big.
As you start to open your mouth, bring your right hand up to your face and simply push the cards about halfway into your mouth. Immediately let the cards spill out and use your left hand to grab them as they come pouring out.
Here's a quick magic tip you can use no matter what trick you're doing:
It's important to leave a nice visual picture in the mind of the audience, and most of the time, it is the ending of the trick that you want them to burn into their memory the most. So when you're performing this trick, it's natural to just pull all the cards out of your mouth and then put them on the table. But instead of doing that, try this: Pull them out of your mouth, but leave your hands up in front of your neck while still holding to all the cards. Have the cards slightly fanned out, and then bite into the last card of the group. You can then strongly pull or rip the last card out of your mouth, and it gives you a moment to pause and burn that into their minds.
How can this be used for other tricks? Well, how about when your written prediction of a card matches the card they chose. Here are two scenarios:
1) They show you the card. You pick up the prediction and show them the prediction.
OR a better alternative:
2) They show you the card and you pick it up and place it face up in front of them. Then you pick up your prediction and unfold it so that it sits right next to their card, and leave them placed next to eachother for a few moments. See the difference? You're painting memories with magic here, people! You can never be exactly sure what people are going to remember, but if you do things like this, you can surely enahce the chance that you'll get them to remember the right part of the magic trick, and they'll be remembering this part of the trick, not that part where you almost dropped the deck, or where you did a poor execution of a double lift!

**Warning for your Health** don't use anyone else's cards for this. First of all, they don't want their cards in your mouth. And more importantly, you don't know how many dirty and grimy hands have touched their cards. You don't want to make yourself sick. The two times I have done this effect at a restaurant where I do magic nightly (with my own cards) after working for a couple of hours. Many people have touched the cards, and I don't know why I put them into my mouth. Anyway, BOTH times, I was sick within a day or two afterward. Coincidence? I don't know, but it sure wasn't worth it enough to try it again to find out for sure. Yuck!

Classic Force

Effect:
You fan the cards and the spectator takes the one card that you already know the identity of. The possibilities are endless for what you can do with this. It feels like a completely free choice to the spectators, but you will start to hit the exact card about 95% of the time if you use these simple techniques about the classic force below:

Secret:
First, a little history on this trick...
The classic force.
Many beginner magicians do not try this because they think it takes too much practice. That is the secret to this trick. Every time you are having someone pick a card, you should try to force a card to them.
If you miss and they pick another card, have a different trick ready so that it doesn't look like you messed up. If they take the card, great! You are ready to perform a miracle.
Read their mind, locate the card, pull a prediction out of your shoe with that card on it, etc...
Here's how to do the classic card force...
Start with the card you want to force on top of the deck. Cut the deck in your hands so that the top card(force card) is now near the middle of the deck and fan the cards. As you do this, keep an eye on where this top card is. Naturally it is spaced out a little more than the rest of the cards. Fan the cards with two hands. It's okay if there is a natural gap, that will help you keep your eye on the force card. If you want, you can even put a light pencil mark on the card as you are starting to learn this trick.

Start to move the cards from the left into your right hand by pulling them over with your right thumb.
Timing is the key to this, but so is a little "honest" psychologicial manipulation. Ask the person to pick a card. (Specificially, I'll say "Pick any card you like, and then mutter "It doesn't matter") That usually gets them to relax a little and makes it work even better! Now, as they reach up to pick a card, time it so that at about this time you get to the card you want them to take and make it easy for them to take this card. Nonchalantly spread the cards a little more and guide this card right into their outstretched finger tips.
As you try this, you're going to be really surprised about how easy it is to force feed a card right into their fingers just about every time. You can even enhance the effect if at the end of your trick you reiterate that they could have taken ANY card and it would have worked the exact same way. Of course, your secret is safe with me that if they had picked any other card, you would have had to do an entirely different magic trick!
Practice this and you can do it anwhere, with any deck of cards, under all kinds of conditions. I love it! You will too.

Mistake Card Force

Effect:
A spectator names a number from 10 to 30 and the magician counts down to the card. Amazingly it matches the previously written prediction, or you have just forced a spectator to take a card that you already know what it is, so you can proceed with your own variation.

Secret:
You force a card by mistake! You must pretend to mess up for this to work. Place the card that you want to force to them in the seventh position in the deck.
Ask them to name any number from 10 to 30.
For example, they say 16.
Start counting cards down onto the table into a pile. One, two, three, four,...Keep counting but go past 16. 16 + 7 = 23. So go to 23 and say, "Whoops. I went to far...here you better do it! It'll be more fair that way anyway!" Pick up the 23 cards and put them back on the deck.
What you have just done is placed the force card in the exact position of the card they are going to stop on!
Have them do exactly what you were supposed to do and when they get to number 16 that will be the card.
Other tips for this card trick:
You don't have to always use 10 to 30. You could use other numbers. It just wouldn't make as much sense if someone said 2, and you counted all the way to 9, right? You could expand it to 5 to 40, but 5 would still be pretty short, and 40 would be so long you might lose some of the excitement of the trick.
